Well, our little Lola Wren is five months old today! I can't believe how time flies. I feel like we just found out we were pregnant. She is such a sweet little thing and I love her so much. She looks much bigger in photos but really she is so tiny and petite. I imagined she would just be a little mini Lillie but it is amazing how different they already are from their coloring and build to their personalities. As Lillie has already informed me though, they are best friends. I tried to take some photos of her yesterday but she is such a wiggle worm it was quite hard. I had to be in super close so I could have one hand on her so she wouldn't roll off the daybed out on the porch. I had planned on doing a photoshop tutorial on how to make the eyes pop but somehow when I went to load the step by step I was missing a few of them, and my sweet little Lola is going bananas right now so it will have to wait for another day.



She always gets this little wrinkled brow that is so cute.
The clip is from Joyfolie from when Lillie was little. I just clipped it onto some elastic lace that I glued together to make a headband because she doesn't have quite enough hair yet to keep the clip in.

My Little Lola Wren

 Lola turned three months old last Friday! I had intended on taking and posting an updated picture of her then but that didn't happen. I have discovered that trying to coordinate pretty much anything with two small children is nearly impossible. Finally, yesterday, while Lillie was napping I was able to take a few shots really quickly before it started to rain. This one was my favorite.






I think if Jason were writing this post he would have used this quote instead of the one above:

An Update on Miss Lorelei

Hello everyone. I hope you all are doing well. It has been a long couple of weeks here. I thought I would just try to pop in quickly, though, and give you all a quick update on Lorelei. The good news is we got the pathology report back and the tissue they removed was benign! YAY!!! The bad news is she has not been doing so well since her surgery. We still aren't sure if it is related to the surgery or not. We have been back and forth to the doctor's, emergency room and have even had another overnight hospital stay. She hasn't been gaining weight (in fact she has even lost an ounce since last week), and the poor thing has been through so many tests and has had her blood drawn several times and been hooked up to an IV. I don't want any of you panicking - it is not anything life-threatening, and in fact today was the first day she finally has shown some improvements so we hope the new medicine they started her on yesterday is helping. I will try to give you all another update soon but it has been extremely hard to get on the computer these past few weeks.

Also, I am about two months behind on e-mails. I had planned on spending the first two or three weeks after Lola was born not worrying about anything Dear Lillie related but then planned on diving in to catch up on e-mails and blog posts and tutorials. Well, needless to say, that hasn't been possible. Even with our shop closed and not doing many blog posts we still receive quite a lot of mail with questions and I don't want you all thinking that I am being rude or don't care. Unfortunately, it has been nearly impossible trying to find time to take a shower most days never mind write e-mails. Please know though, they are all saved in our inbox and eventually, once we get Lorelei better, we will start getting to work on them so I promise you will all get a response, I just don't know when it will be.

I do have some plans for some tutorials including some photo editing ones as we have been getting quite a few requests for those. I am not sure when I will get to those but I hope to have a few more guest posters over the next few weeks and then hopefully we will have Lorelei nice and healthy and life can return to normal here!

Prayers for Lola Wren

 It has been a busy last two weeks since Lorelei's arrival with family members coming and going and adjusting to life with two little ones.  Lorelei has been a wonderfully easy baby so far and is the sweetest little thing, but unfortunately she has had a few minor health issues. On Tuesday we found out she was going to have to have surgery. It was scheduled for June but then someone canceled and we found out yesterday that they could get her in today. So, we are headed to the Children's Hospital about an hour away for the second time this week. 


We are so thankful that they were able to get her in so quickly and would appreciate all of your prayers. We were torn about sharing this on the blog (which is why we hadn't mentioned it until now) but in the end decided that we wanted as many prayers being said for her as possible.  She is having some tissue removed and although her doctor thinks it is benign we won't know until it is tested so we would appreciate your prayers both for her surgery today and that the biopsy will come back clean!


I have been dying to take the girls down to Colonial Williamsburg to take some photos but so far I haven't gotten to yet. I tried to take a few of them REALLY quickly last night but only got a few shots in and didn't get any I was happy with. Lola didn't quite fit in Lillie's doll stroller like I thought she would and then when I just had Lillie hold her she started screaming so we ended up giving up.



 Clearly, Lola Wren was not very happy about picture taking. 
I think we try it next time when she is sleeping! =)

A Few Pictures of Lola Wren and a Winner

I wrote my last post in such a hurry that I feel like I forgot to write half of what I planned to say and unfortunately I am writing this one in a rush as well.  I wanted to make sure to thank you for all of your incredibly sweet comments and for all of your prayers as we welcomed little Lorelei Wren into the world! They meant so much to us! I also wanted to thank you all for your continued patience if you are waiting for an e-mail response. I pretty much have avoided the computer the past several weeks and am further behind than ever! I can't even remember the last time I visited any of my favorite blogs. I am hoping to get in a routine here soon. Eventually I will get caught up but for now I am just enjoying adjusting to life with two little munchkins. My mom and sister, Jamie, left yesterday to head back to New Hampshire. We were so incredibly sad to see them go. Lillie stood at the door and cried after they left. It was so sad to watch. 


I feel like I have so many things I want to write and post about but until I figure out how to better manage my time my posts will probably be extremely short like this one. I do have a few guest posts scheduled, some more giveaways, a tutorial I need to wrap up and a few other things but for today I just have time to announce the winner of the Industrial Cottage Giveaway and post a few pictures of Lola Wren.

She's Here!!!

We had quite the Easter weekend!
On Good Friday, April 22nd at 8:02 PM 
our new little girl arrived!

She weighed in at 7 pounds 6 ounces and is 20 inches long so she even though the doctors had been telling me for weeks that she was going to be quite small she actually turned out to be bigger than Lillie! Her nickname is "Lola Wren."




 







Lillie has been such a great big sister and so helpful! One of my favorite moments so far was when Lola Wren was crying and Lillie held her hand and kept telling her, "It's going to be okay. I promise." It was so sweet. She's been getting over-protective when other people hold "her baby."

Good-Bye Guest Bedroom

This is what our third bedroom has looked like since shortly after moving into our home. We have used it as a guest bedroom but now it is time to turn it into a nursery - yay! I am so excited to start working on a nursery again but am a little sad to see our guest bedroom go. While my parents were here a couple of weeks ago, we moved the twin beds into Lillie's room. We have been busy working on her room since then and it is now finished except for one small corner - I plan on taking pictures of it tomorrow and posting them later this week.  So, anyway, now that the twin beds are gone, this room has a full size bed in it (the one that was in Lillie's room - we need to keep it so we can still have room for people to sleep when family comes), a chair and the mirror and dresser. We need to squish a crib in there too somehow - ahhh!  I am torn on what direction to go in as far as color goes. I will show you the two things I am torn between at the end of this post. My sister, Jamie is here for the next few days, though so I want to get to work on it now and hopefully have it finished by the end of this month. That's the goal, anyway! 


So here is what it looked like until two weeks ago:














I was torn between quite a few different color-ways to start with. I have it narrowed down to two now though. We won't be getting any new furniture. We will be using everything we already had from either Lillie's nursery or things already in the guest bedroom. I do want to make all new bedding though and have some fun ideas for some decorative items. Believe it or not, I don't want to have ANY pink in this room. We did Lillie's nursery in all pinks, whites and creams and I want this one to look completely different.  The main thing I have to decide though in the next day or so is which color scheme I do want to use - a very natural, earthy look with Alexandria Biege Walls (kind of a soft mocha brown) and then all of the bedding and accessories to be whites, creams and tans. I would use a lot of different textures to add some contrast. The second option is to leave the colors as is (I love that wallpaper and hate to get rid of it) and do the room in the same color scheme it already is - blues, grays, whites and creams but just add some more baby touches. I would still have to make a decent amount of bedding for both the crib and the full sized bed and need to put a lot of things on the walls.  I am leaning toward option one, but not quite sure. What do you think?


Inspiration for Option 1:
I LOVE the feel of both of these nurseries and they are the exact idea of the overall idea I want. I would just have the walls be a little darker using the Alexandria Beige color (it's the on the same color swatch as the Davenport Tan my sister and her husband used in their dining room, where we had Lillie's birthday party, but is one shade lighter). We used Alexandria Beige in our last home and it has always been one of my favorite colors! Along with the walls being darker, we won't have any of the gorgeous wall paneling in either of these photos either as that is most definitely not in the budget, but otherwise they have the general feel of what I am going for.






 Inspiration for Option 2
I actually had decided on going with Option 1, because I didn't want to do a girl's nursery in all blue. Then I saw this link on The Shabby Nest and saw this gorgeous nursery for Baby Lunden and started having second thoughts. How beautiful is this? Even though our blue is more of a gray blue I could keep the wallpaper and wall color but could add a beautiful white baby dress and some frilly pillows.
 


And regardless of whether I go with the first or second option I love these framed ideas from Audrey Ryan's nursery over at Jones Design Company and would love to do something similar! I haven't decided the layout yet of the room so I don't know if I am going to have the wall space or not but I LOVE the vintage feel of this:













Any thoughts? I would love to know which you think would rather see - Option 1 or Option 2?

Also, we have had our shop closed for the past ten days or so but are back open. I still don't have any of the new spring screenprinted items ready yet but am working on them and hope to have them ready to go by the first or second week of March. Also, I am planning on offering one script pillow each month as well and am working on those. I am going to do a similar one to the Je T'aime ones next and then plan on doing something completely different for March. Although I am behind on those things we do have two new tutus available in our shop! The Arabelle Faerie Tutu which we previewed here on the blog a couple of weeks ago and another new one called the Calla Tutu, which would be great for a spring or summer wedding! I hope to take photos of Lillie in that one today or tomorrow.

A Weekend Giveaway

It has been a particularly LONG week so as usual, I am horribly behind on blogging and even more so on e-mails - ahhh! Although it has been a LONG week and I am beyond exhausted it has been a pretty good week. The Tribe won both of their last two games which has made for a happy household =), I turned 29 - yikes, and we had a pretty busy week for this time of year in our shop. For those of you that have asked, yes, I will be making one more small batch of the pillows and hopefully will have them ready to sell on Monday morning although I am not sure. If not I hope to at least have them ready by Tuesday. I have several blog posts I want to do but haven't had time. Hopefully I will get to them this coming week. In the meantime, I thought it would be fun to have another little giveaway! Our Valentine's shirts are ready to go and will be for sale in our  shop when we reopen Monday morning (actually I normally reopen it late Sunday night that way I won't forget when I get up on Monday morning).

Here is Lillie wearing one of the Je T'aime thermals. I ended up printing them in black instead of red so they could be more versatile. You can choose to have yours plain or with the chiffon bow. I cannot wait for spring to start taking photos outside again. I am getting really bored using her window seat over and over! Fortunately, Miss Lillie was in a great mood when I was taking pictures today but she was singing and dancing which made it lots of fun because she was in such a silly mood, but really hard to get a good shot of the actual shirt.

And two other random shots from this week. Here is Lillie playing soccer. We signed her up for Tuesday and Thursday afternoons and she started on Thursday and LOVES it! 



And here is my growing belly! Jon and I went out to dinner at the beginning of the week and seeing how I finally had makeup on and had brushed my hair I thought I would have him take a shot of my baby bump. Well, this is NOT a cropped photo - this is what happens when poor Jon is in charge of taking the picture - haha! I think he thought I was just being bossy as usual when I told him he was too close!
