We still don't have any power at home, but most of Williamsburg does (I'm posting from Jon's office) so we should be getting it back pretty soon, which means we will be opening on Thursday at 12:01 am as planned (that's less than 36 hours away)! We've actually been sewing by candlelight just trying to get everything ready, but I think we should be good to go by the time Thursday rolls around.



So, now onto our big giveaway. This time we are giving away a $50 gift card to use when our store opens! We don't have quite as many new items ready to go as we had planned but they will be added in the coming days and weeks. We have quite a few things that are almost done but need labels sewn in and to be added to inventory (like scarves and shirts) and quite a few more things that are in the process of being made (like Thanksgiving and Christmas pillows!)

Jane Austen Mini Book Tutorial and Free Download plus a JANE AUSTEN GIVEAWAY!

I didn't really get any good shots of these little books but they were a fun little addition to the party. We used them in the teacups at each setting and then hung them from a branch in the corner - I am disappointed I didn't get ANY usable shots of that! =(  I thought I would still show you all how we made them, though, because they were so easy and inexpensive. You just need cardstock, some old book pages, a stapler and some double-stick tape.



























1) Just like for yesterday's banner tutorial, we ripped the pages out of the book and then used a ruler to tear them - this provides a softer look than cutting them.












2) We also did some of the ripping by hand to make it look a bit more authentic.









3.) Next we ripped them in half.



 








4). After that we stacked them up and folded them over.












5). Then we opened it back up and staples the pages together at the fold.












6). Then we printed out the covers on cardstock and cut them out. (You can download the covers a little further down in this post if  you want).








7) Then using a piece of double-stick tape we tape the book covers onto the book pages.



 








Once they are made have fun displaying them!























If you would like to use these fronts just click on the image below and it will open in a new window in a much larger size that you can print. Just cut along the lines and then fold each one in half!



 



I didn't do a tutorial for the bookmarks as they seem pretty self-explanatory but I did include a printable below that has the first paragraph from Sense and Sensibility on it. We printed that on cream cardstock and then added it to the bottom half of the bookmarks.

The Farm Stand and another GIVEAWAY!

As I mentioned last week, we will be hosting a giveaway each week from now until we open on September 1st. It's a bit late this week seeing how it is already Friday, but better late than never, right? First, though, I thought I would post a few pictures from our trip to my uncle's farm stand yesterday. We have gone up there two to three times a week since we have been up in New Hampshire. Lillie loves it as it has three of her favorite things - dogs, donuts and dirt! Yesterday we had fun meeting up with lots of other family members (my mom, two of my sisters, my grandmother, two nieces and lots and lots of cousins were all there) and the kids had fun playing in the dirt and were absolutely filthy by the time we left. As you can see in one of the last photos we had to hose Lillie down before getting in the car!

Je T'aime Pillow Cover Giveaway

We figured it was time for another giveaway! We have been busy working on our pillows for fall. We currently have the Jane Austen Silhouette (facing both right and left so you can have two facing each other) and Girl Reading Silhouette pillows printed as well as the Je T'aime pillow in the 12" by 16" size and the 12" by 24" size as well. Now we are working on getting several other designs printed including ones with Silent Night, Holy Night, Joyeux, and Noel for Christmas, and a Give Thanks one for Fall. We are hoping to have them all ready for when we reopen and then once those are all ready to go we have a few other designs we can't wait to get printed.
